Farm, garden & park

Organic vegetable and garden

Souimanga's vegetable garden is not a classic one but it is part of a holistic agroforestry project, i.e. the vegetables grow among fruit trees and flower beds. This technique combined with the regular use of natural manure limits the damage caused by numerous pests. We therefore produce our own fruits and vegetables served in the hotel. We also select and distribute seeds for the farmers involved in our solidarity projects.

Organic farm

The small farm is part of the Souimanga ecosystem and follows the same rules: no chemical treatment nor imported food. All the forage comes either from the park or from partnering farmers. Cows are fed with dozens of different plants and leaves, thereby playing their part in the validation of various agroforestry solutions experimented onsite. All year round, Souimanga's guests are thus assured to be able to taste seasonal products such as fresh eggs, milk, rabbit meat, chicken, quail, and honey.

Conservatory Park

On almost two hectares, you will find a compendium of quite exceptional biodiversity. After a few steps within this unique environment, you will understand what tropical agroforestry is all about. Many animals and insects have settled here and can be observed, such as the "red fody" from Madagascar, chameleons, souimangas etc. The collection of fruit trees represents all continents and most of the fruits from tropical or temperate zones, with the aim to identify varieties best adapted to the highlands of Madagascar. In addition, we host an almost complete collection of plants used to produce essential oils as well as a wide range of endemic species for seeds. Furthermore, we foster reproduction by sowing or cutting the plants that are becoming scarce in the countryside and by encouraging people to cultivate them. Finally, we have a remarkable collection of tropical ornamental plants for the pleasure of our visitors.

"Our favorite"

"A small paradise in Antsirabe! Imagine a boutique art style hotel, surrounded by the lush tropical garden! The design with a great attention to details, creative handmade furniture, spacious rooms, big bathrooms with plenty of hot water. All this accompanied by a delicious cuisine, prepared by the family from the organic fruits and vegetables they grown there by themselves! Wifi was perfect, food was very good and thank you very much for the tour of your amazing tropical garden with thousands of plants species! "

"f we ever return, we'll stay here for sure! This is the best hotel we stayed in in Madagascar - an absolute gem! The hotel is located down a dirt road that on approach seems a a bit dicey, but once inside you are in another world! The park/gardens around the hotel are incredible - everything grows here. Ask if you can have a guided tour from Sylvain. The rooms are comfortable, everything works well. The food is amazing and thoughtfully prepared. Everything is from the property, a farm to table experience. Don't miss staying here! "

"Charming B&B — my favorite stay for the whole trip! It was a very welcoming and homey place... I felt so relaxed the moment I stepped in. The staff were great and friendly. The food was amazing — they have their own small farm out back and the food is fresh and homegrown. I totally enjoyed my meals there. I stayed there twice (2 separate instances) and I really looked forward to being back for the second stay. This was my favorite accommodation in my 2 weeks in the country! "
